Eco NRG Systems FAQs
What are the benefits from having an eco NRG Solutions system installed?
All of our systems at eco NRG Solutions are designed to reduce fuel consumption. By reducing fuel consumption you contribute to reducing carbon emissions and save money on energy bills.
Solar Thermal FAQs
What is solar thermal energy?
Solar thermal energy is a technology designed to harness solar radiation (sunlight) in order to produce thermal energy.
How can we make use of solar thermal energy?
Solar thermal technology can provide us with hot water, heat to either radiators or underfloor heating and heat for swimming pools.
Will a solar thermal system work in winter?
Yes. Our solar thermal systems operate 365 days a year.
How much does it cost to install a solar thermal system?
Costs vary depending on system design and individual requirements. Our standard hot water system starts at £4,000, whilst our premium hot water/heating system with swimming pool add-on starts at £12,000.
What are the running costs for solar thermal?
Our solar thermal systems incur very low running costs, and the payback on the capital cost will be even better if the fuel costs for comparative oil or gas systems go up over time.
Are there any grants in place that can bring the cost down?
Yes. The government is issuing a limited amount of grants up to £400 per household.
How long will it take to recover the cost of the installation?
Firstly, our solar thermal systems are an investment. If you were to sell your home on completion of the installation then you would not only recover all costs but most certainly profit from it. However, if you intend to stay in your home, depending on climate and personal requirements a solar thermal system can recover the cost of the installation within 10 years of completion.
Will a solar thermal system increase a property’s value?
Yes. Property consultants advise a 9% increase in property value from an inefficient home to an eco friendly home.
How soon can the installation commence?
The majority of installations commence 4 weeks after an order has been placed.
How long will the installation take?
A standard hot water system can take 2 days to complete, whilst a hot water/heating system can take up to 4.
How much maintenance will the system require?
Although our systems are virtually maintenance free, we recommend annual servicing.
What is the life expectancy of a solar thermal system?
30+ years.
How long does the guarantee last?
Systems come with a 5 year fully transferable guarantee. However, the panels are under warranty for 10 years.
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) FAQs
What is solar photovoltaic (PV) energy?
Solar photovoltaics (PV) are arrays of cells containing a material that converts solar radiation into direct current electricity.
How can we make use of solar thermal energy?
Solar photovoltaic technology can provide us with electricity to all of our home appliances.
Is the electric stored on the property?
Our photovoltaic systems are connected directly into the National Grid. Thus any electricity it produces that is not immediately used is sold back to your energy company. So you become your own power station!
Will a solar photovoltaic system work in winter?
Yes. Our solar photovoltaic systems operate 365 days a year.
How much does it cost to install a solar photovoltaic system?
Costs vary depending on system design and individual requirements. The cost to install a solar photovoltaic system starts at £8,000.
What are the running costs for solar PV?
Our solar PV systems incur very low running costs.
Are there any grants in place that can bring the cost down?
The Low Carbon Buildings Programme householder scheme is now closed to new applications for grants for electricity generating technologies.
How long will it take to recover the cost of the installation?
Firstly, our solar photovoltaic systems are an investment. If you were to sell your home on completion of the installation then you would not only recover all costs but most certainly profit from it. However, if you intend to stay in your home, depending on climate and personal requirements a solar photovoltaic system can recover the cost of the installation within 12 years of completion.
Will a solar thermal system increase a property’s value?
Yes. Property consultants advise a 9% increase in property value from an inefficient home to an eco friendly home.
How soon can the installation commence?
The majority of installations commence 4 weeks after an order has been placed.
How long will the installation take?

What is the life expectancy of a solar photovoltaic system?
30+ years.
How long does the guarantee last?
Systems come with a 5 year fully transferable guarantee. However, the panels are under warranty for 25 years.
Heat Pumps FAQs
What is a heat pump?
A Heat Pump is a machine or device that moves heat from one location (the 'source') to another location (the 'sink' or 'heat sink') using mechanical work.
What’s the difference between an air source heat pump and a ground source heat pump?
An air source heat pump is designed to make use of outside air as a heat source, whilst a ground source heat pump is designed to make use of moderate ground temperatures.
How can we make use of a heat pump?
Heat pumps can provide us with hot water, heat to either radiators or underfloor heating and heat for swimming pools.
What are the running costs for an air source heat pump?
An air source heat pump typically draws approximately 1/3 to 1/4 of the electricity of a standard resistance heater for the same amount of heating. For example: every pound spent will generate at least three pounds worth of energy.
What are the running costs for a ground source heat pump?
A ground source heat pump will incur very low running costs, and the payback on the capital cost will be even better if the fuel costs for comparative oil or gas systems go up over time.
How much does it cost to install a heat pump?
Costs vary depending on system design and individual requirements. The cost to install an air source heat pump starts at £3,000 and the cost to install a ground source heat pump starts at £5,000.
Energy Efficient Condensing Boilers FAQs
What is a condensing boiler?
A condensing boiler is designed to recover energy normally discharged to the atmosphere through the flue.
What is the difference between a conventional boiler and a condensing boiler?
Typically older types of conventional boilers only achieve efficiencies of 50%. By replacing a conventional boiler with an eco NRG condensing boiler you can make a saving of over £240 on your annual home heating bill.
How much does it cost to install a condensing boiler?
Costs vary depending on system design and individual requirements. The cost to install a condensing boiler starts at £2,000.
Underfloor Heating FAQs
What is underfloor heating?
Underfloor heating is a form of central heating which uses heat conduction and radiant heat rather than forced air heating which relies on convection. Underfloor heating systems provide a much more comfortable, ambient heat than central heating.
How much does it cost to install underfloor heating?
Costs vary depending on system design and individual requirements. The cost to install a standard underfloor heating system starts at £3,000.
